Yes — everyone in the office speaks Spanish except the attorney. However, all documents and arguments in court must be conducted in English. All communication with the attorney will have a translator present so nothing is lost in translation.
The honest answer is no — you CAN represent yourself in immigration court and in USCIS proceedings. But immigration laws are constantly changing and having a detail-oriented attorney significantly increases your chances of winning.
This can vary from state to state and law firm to law firm. At Carey Law, our price for Defensive Asylum is $10,000.00 with an additional $500.00 per family member on the application. We are well below the average cost for an immigration attorney, while providing the detail and attention you would expect to find at the more pricey law firms.
We can assist you in your Affirmative and Defensive Asylum proceedings. We also help with those pursuing SIJS (Special Immigrant Juvenile Status) in the state of Utah — and we will soon be able to provide this service for Texas as well.
